The villagers are examined by the experienced clinicians and medicines are dispensed free of cost to them . This provision has been made by BCCL exclusively under CSR activities for the benefit of villagers by providing them free medical assistance. The total beneficiaries till December,2009 was 59879.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>2.\u00a0WELLNESS CLINICS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>15 Wellness Clinics are functioning in BCCL in all the hospitals\/Regional Hospitals besides Central Hospital, Dhanbad for 1 to 2 hrs for counseling the patients for modifying their life style. The patients are made known about the nutritional values of different diets, diet schedule for different diseases, how to lead a happy life, importance of morning walk, how to get rid of stress, value of yoga and different types of exercise etc. Such clinics extend awareness amongst the employees for life style management thus lowering the no. of man days lost at their work site. Obviously such clinics are indirectly helping\u00a0to improve the\u00a0production and productivity in a positive way. The total no. of beneficiaries till December,2009 was 3518.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>3.\u00a0CSR CLINICS<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/h3><h3>BCCL has embarked upon by opening of free CSR clinics from 01.04.2009 to\u00a0 provide free patient consultation at Central Hospital (PHC Building, Kalyan Bhawan) and subsequently at all 14 Regional Hospitals which is open to all. These clinics run for one.\/two hours daily in morning hours and free medical advise is given to people around Colliery areas. The total no. of beneficiaries till December,2009 was 4953.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>4.\u00a0TELE-MEDICINE:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>\u00a0BCCL has installed Telemedicine Centre at Central Hospital, Dhanbad which will pave the way for introduction of new system of treatment based on telecommunication. Thus the treating doctors at CHD may have interaction and discussion on a particular disease or patient with the doctors of super-specialty hospitals\u00a0 in order to provide best possible medical assistance to them. The unit was inaugurated by Chairman CIL on March 28th.,2010.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>5.MEDICAL RELIEF TEAM FOR AILA STORM AFFECTED PEOPLE AT SUNDERBAN IN WEST BENGAL:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>To extend medical relief, Two Medical Teams comprising of doctors and paramedical staff along with medicine were sent to the Aila storm affected area of Sunderban in West Bengal on 2nd\u00a0June,2009 which extended medical assistance to Aila Victims of Laksh Bazar, Jafarganj, Krishna Nagar, Radha JKantpur, Gorenbose, Ramgarh, Jyotipur &amp;\u00a0 Biranchi Hari villages where as the second team visited Mazid Bari and Gorenbose villages. The total no. of beneficiaries was 3915.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>6.ARTIFICIAL LIMB CENTRE:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>Under CSR activities BCCL has started one clinic at PHC Building Kalyan Bhawan, Jagjivan Nagar. Aim of the clinic is to examine and enlist handicapped persons followed by to organize camps for them in which free prosthesis will be provided. Till date 11(eleven) such handicapped persons enrolled at this centre. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>7.\u00a0EK JAGRAN &#8211; JEEVAN SHAILI:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>A life Style Management Programme is being organized by Welfare Deptt. of BCCL assisted by Medical Deptt. in different areas in which de-addiction from tobacco, alcohol, smoking and other ill\u00a0 habits are deliberated. Such programme is arranged amidst thickly populated colonies so that all the members of the family may participate. Lodna and PB area has already organized such programmes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>8.MISSION MITWA:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>This programme is being organized in Block-II Area of BCCL mainly for the truck drivers who are not well known to the evils of AIDS. The team of Doctors alongwith union Leaders reach the pit heads where the truck drivers assemble and deliberate about AIDS. FREE \u00a0BT \u00a0TO THALLASAEMIA PATIENTS :\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>\u00a0165 cases of Thallasaemia were admitted and blood transfusion was done free of cost at BCCL Central Hospital, Dhanbad during the year 2009.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>10.MEDICAL AID TO EPIDEMIC VICTIMS :<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>BCCL\u00a0 rendered\u00a0 full medical support\u00a0 in the areas\u00a0 whenever\u00a0 epidemics\u00a0 arose in any area. We have rushed our Medical teams with all essential medicines in order to save the lives of the patients.\u00a0 The burning examples are CV area where the doctors of BCCL \u00a0\u00a0treated 34children suffering from\u00a0 Gastroenterities in December, 2008\/January2009,\u00a0 and Kusunda Area were chicken pox\u00a0 wide spread\u00a0 in the month of\u00a0 February,2009 and our doctors treated 32 children and saved their lives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>11. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO CIVIL AUTHORITIES DURING STRIKE PERIOD :\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>\u00a0While the employees of PMC Hospital was on strike in the last week of January 2009, there was acute crisis of supportive services and ultimately BCCL extended its hands in in support of the civil authorities in order to save the lives of the patients. 664 patients were treated in outdoor and indoor at our Central Hospital, Dhanbad.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>12. PARTICIPATION IN FW CAMPS AT DVC :\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>A team of Gynecologists of BCCL undertook\u00a0 78 cases of tubectomy in DVC Hospital, Maithon and 102 cases in DVC Hospital, Panchet on 11th.\u00a0 February and 13th. February, 2009 respectively\u00a0 on request of the DVC authorities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>13.SYMPOSIUM ON OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH HAZARDS:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>Two symposium were organized in Block-II and Sijua areas\u00a0 covering eight areas in which there were active participation of the employees besides trade union leaders. Faculty members from AIOH, Safety Deptt. of\u00a0 BCCL, Central Hospital Dhanbad\u00a0 and from DGMS delivered their lectures on the topic which was extremely useful for the audience. Both the symposium were inaugurated by Director(P)BCCL.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>14.\u00a0MASS BLOOD GROUPING:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>Mass Blood Grouping of the employees and their dependants are being done in different areas with the help of Pathology deptt of CHD. On this occasion\u00a061 camps\u00a0were organized during the month of November,2009 and the no. of beneficiaries were\u00a05333.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>In Central Hospital Dhanbad, 196 patients were examined who were suffering from eye ailments, out of which 90 were operated in a three days Eye Camp between 2nd\u00a0to 4th\u00a0November,2009.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>16.\u00a0BABY SHOW:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>\u00a0A Baby Show was organzed on 14.11.2009 in Lodna Area which was inaugurated by CMS, BCCL. 188 babies participated in the said programme. Prizes were distributed on this occasion.\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>17.MEDICAL COLLEGE<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>Proposal has already been put up to CIL Headquarter for starting a Medical College at Dhanbad .\u00a0 Further action in this regard is awaited.\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>\u00a018.\u00a0DNB:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>BCCL had initiated proposal for starting Diplomat National Board\u00a0 courses at Central Hospital, Dhanbad earlier for which several contacts were made with the National Board. Active efforts are being made again to get such course started as early as possible for two seats each in Department of Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology &amp; General Surgery after getting due recognition of the course from the statutory body.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>19.SUPER SPECIALITY HOSPITAL:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>The project report has already been submitted by the then ED(MS) for approval from Coal India Limited. Central Hospital, Dhanbad has been opted for Super-specialty status in Neurology deptt.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>20.NURSING COLLEGE:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3><h3>Process for the upgradation of the existing Nursing School at CHD running on Self Finance Scheme has been initiated by approval of sponsoring a Sister Tutor for M.SC (Nursing) course in this session.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>21.RE-ORGANISATION OF DISPENSARIES:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3>Re-organisation of Dispensaries in different areas have already been initiated. In\u00a0 Sijua, Kustore and Lodna\u00a0 areas few dispensaries have already been converted to Mini Health Centres. In Bastacolla area, GOCP dispensary has been merged with Tisra Regional Hospital.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>22.WORLD AIDS DAY CELEBRATION:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>World AIDS Day was celebrated enthusiastically in Katras Area on December 1st, 2009 in which around 900 school children marched through the streets of Katras bearing NACO-caps and calling slogans for AIDS awareness. Deliberations were made by eminent doctors of BCCL, HIV\/AIDS trainers and several others besides faculty from National Boardof Workers&#8217; Education on the topic. Executives, employees of areas,\u00a0 trade union leaders, school children\u00a0 and persons from different fields of society participated in the programme. The programme was a grand success and it was appreciated by press and media. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>23.TRAINING FOR HIV\/AIDS AWARENESS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><h3>BCCL has targeted all the paramedical and nursing staffs for training in HIV\/AIDS awareness and they are being sent to Jeevan Jyoti, Jamshedpur and RIIMS, Ranchi under Project GFTAM-7 sponsored by ILO.
